... What happened? 1- the 'flipping part' (at the very right on the pic. above) of the rear sight was broken and kept comming off the spring-part. So a "gunsmith" replaced it with ... a NOT-FITTING (too big) lookalike, which made the rifle impossible to shoot. 2- So, an other "gunsmith" knew it could be replaced with a 'Truglo'-sight that would easily fit the 336SS... BUT....... ... he replaced the frontsight as well, killing the original part. Where the frontsight fits 'the ramp', this ramp broke at the hole for a screw. Yes. Now I'm 'screwed'.
3- "No problem", he said. I have something that looks like it from another rifle.... wich was MUCH too high and too long. ... so the jerk fitted it ... REVERSED! (You should look up the serratings from behind, not from the front!) Putting the frontsight 1/2" higher.
4- And look! It comes with an adjustable (!?) rear sight, that we can turn UP... and UP, and UP some more, until the screw can go no further. (To align with the front sight, which was too high, remember?)
5- And ... "VOILÁ"! If you look from behind, and somewhat from the left too, you can SEE both sights (that are pointing downwards).
THE RIFLE HAS "SIGHTS". BUT YOU MUST BE VERY CLOSE TO YOUR TARGET TO BE ABLE TO HIT IT;
The boss at the gunshop (Handgunner.be) where I bought the rifle, has died. His wife says it has long been a problem, to get "gunparts" (?) from Marlin.
The "gunsmith" (Frank, Lommel-Be) has closed his business soon after "the work" he did on my 336SS. At IWA gunshow, Nürnberg Germany, I met with "Tony from Remington" at the Marlin-booth. He told me to get in touch with our importer in Belgium, and which person to contact there. So I mailed that firm. And again. And again. And never got answered.
